Commerce secretary announces $5 million award under “Internet for All” program.
Rhode Island recently received its first “Internet for All” grants, dedicating $5.5 million toward deploying and adopting high-speed internet throughout the state. The National Telecommunications and Information Administration announced their approval through the Department of Commerce. This marks some of the first releases of funding from the $65 billion allocated for high-speed internet development through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
“The funding for Rhode Island today is the first step to ensuring affordable high-speed Internet is available to every resident,” said Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo. “This money will allow the state to conduct the important planning and digital equity work vital to making this program a success.”
